Each student in Emerson Elementary School has an iPad with 24/7 access to use for their learning. This technology-rich environment helps in their ability to educate and support the whole child. 


Students are able to show learning by using a series of tools and apps. Using green screens, photos, information they’ve learned or gathered, and original ideas, students use iPad to create digital content. From second graders discovering how a green screen works to fifth graders expertly creating an iMovie final project, teachers have seamlessly integrated technology as a way for students to express their learning. Students in all grades can be seen coding, testing, and trying again while putting their critical thinking skills to the test. All students participate in the Hour of Code. 


Fifth graders are invited to participate in the iSWAT (I Am a Student Willing to Assist with Technology) school club focusing on leadership and technology. As part of iSWAT, students learn more about their devices while exploring coding and robotics. The iSWAT team presented at an annual conference that was attended by almost 400 educators from their district as well as educators from other states.
